Laugh from the Comfort of your Living Room with Michigan Comedians

At this rate, most of us have exhausted our entire wish list of those Netflix originals series, indulged in new thrilling tales through Amazon Prime, and left with the agony and anticipation of Hamilton’s arrival on Disney+. And while the options of what to do during these moments of self-isolation seem limitless between the piles of laundry, Zoom calls and children screaming for attention, there is something so comfortable, enlightening and freeing about sitting in the comfort of your own home with the option to not put on a pair of pants, let alone a face full of makeup.

While Midland Center is eager to welcome friends and neighbors through its doors to experience a live performance together again soon, in the meantime, they’ve come to the rescue with an experience fit for a quarantine queen – a virtual comedy night where your pants are only optional.

“Don’t we deserve a laugh after the past few months?” said Dexter Brigham, Director of Theatre Programs. “We are bringing together three of Michigan’s best in stand-up comedians to deliver wit and humor to the comfort of your living room with tons of new material to lighten the mood.”

The Virtual Comedy Night is the first ticketed event to happen for the Center since mid-March, and will give households access to an interactive night of all new stand-up from Michigan comics livestreamed at midlandcenter.org. The virtual event will take place on Saturday, May 30 at 8 p.m. and tickets can be purchased up until 7:30 p.m. that same evening.

“We know that there is something truly special about the sound of laughter through the theater, with a specialty beverage in hand, alongside your friends and family, so we were intentional about crafting a virtual experience that still gives you what you love and enjoy about coming to the Center,” said Brigham. Ticket purchasers will receive a password to enter the viewing room the night of the event where they will be alongside fellow patrons for commentary through a live chat feature and enjoy access to fun and entertaining content as they wait for the performance to begin.

Michigan-based comedians included for this livestreamed event include Dave Dyer, Adam Degi and Allen Trieu. Tickets are on sale now for just $10 per household and the show is rated PG-13. To learn more about Pants Optional Virtual Comedy Night, visit midlandcenter.org.
