Midland Center and Chippewa Nature Center Partner Together on New Exhibit Discovering Biomes of the World

You might not regularly think about the biome in which we live here in Michigan. With our many seasons like sunny summers and cold snowy winters, the environment we call home is unique and special to us – just like how other regions around the world have special attributes to them. Many of these elements are in part due to the biome in which they exist. A new exhibit at Midland Center for the Arts is allowing families to discover many of the prevalent biomes around the world in an interactive hands-on exhibit through partnerships with the Chippewa Nature Center.

Holiday Art Fair Returns to Midland Center for the Arts

The holiday shopping season is arriving quickly upon us and Midland Center for the Arts is bringing the annual Holiday Art Fair back to the Center Nov. 20 - 21. Guests will be able to wander through a trail of nearly 40 local artist vendors inside the Brick Lobby and go home with handmade items and special gifts for the most wonderful time of the year.

Summer Art Fair Returns to Downtown Midland June 2021

Nothing feels quite like summer like the sounds of live music echoing down the street, families stepping in and out of downtown businesses, and residents greeting with artists from around the State to purchase locally crafted items. That glimpse of summer is once again coming back to Downtown Midland for the annual Summer Art Fair, hosted by Midland Center for the Arts in support of the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science & Art.

Midland Center for the Arts to Showcase Art, Science and History at the Winter Festival

The much-anticipated Winter Festival which was originally scheduled for December is taking place Feb. 6 -7 with a winter themed festival for families to celebrate weather traditions and winter fun. Learning about the frightening world of viruses, bacteria and other microbes isn’t necessarily an easy thing to teach, and yet the last year has taught us about the severe impacts they can have on society and one’s personal health. That’s why Midland Center for the Arts has developed an interactive exhibit, lightening the conversation on germs and how we can combat the spread of viruses.

In a new pop-up exhibit that just opened at Midland Center for the Arts, the microscopic world of viruses, bacteria and other microbes are under review as patrons can discover what makes us sick and how we can combat these with various healthy living choices.

Midland Center and Great Lakes Bay Pride Partner for Screening of Documentary About Michigan Gay Rights Activist

While the past few decades have prompted radical change in the perception of the LGBTQIA+ community to achieve equality, none of this progress would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of gay rights activists. One particular standout in Michigan is Jeffrey Montgomery. In the feature-length documentary, AMERICA YOU KILL ME, Montgomery dives into his life and impact fighting for gay rights across the country.

Midland Center for the Arts in Midland, Mich. has announced a $47 Million transformational project that will reimagine the way art and science intersect in Michigan – a campaign they are calling, Center of Possibility. Having just commemorated its 50th Anniversary, the Center for the Arts celebrated its rich history as a regional destination for immersive exploration, historical research, artistic expression and scientific discovery.

Midland Center for the Arts Welcomes New Manager of Produced Theatre and Theatre Education

Midland Center for the Arts has announced the addition of Travis Kendrick as the new Manager of Produced Theatre and Theatre Education. Kendrick comes to the Center as a professional director, choreographer and educator, having most recently served as the Director of Education for Mill Mountain Theatre and Visiting Faculty Member for both Hollins University and Virginia tech.
